Bachelor of Audiology, Speech and Language Pathology (BASLP)

Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology (ASLP) is a specialized field within speech-language pathology that focuses on evaluating and treating individuals with communication disorders related to hearing loss or auditory processing difficulties. Professionals in this field often called audiologic speech-language pathologists; work with individuals across the lifespan, from infants to older adults, who have various communication challenges resulting from hearing impairment or auditory processing deficits.

ASLP professionals assess individuals’ hearing abilities, auditory processing skills, and speech-language development to determine the impact of hearing loss on communication. They provide interventions tailored to each individual’s needs, which may include auditory training, speech and language therapy, auditory-verbal therapy, and counseling for individuals and their families.

These professionals often collaborate with audiologists, otolaryngologists (ear, nose, and throat doctors), educators, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for individuals with hearing-related communication disorders. They work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, schools, rehabilitation centers, and private practice, to help individuals maximize their communication abilities and improve their quality of life.

  • Duration: 4 years (3 years of coursework + 1 year of internship)

Eligibility:

  • Completion of BIPC or MPC streams
  • Minimum of 50% marks, for SC. ST 45%
  • Clear the Common Entrance Examination conducted by Osmania University

Career Prospects:

  • Start a private clinic after registration with RCI
  • Work as an Audiologist cum Speech Therapist in hospitals, clinics, and child guidance centres
  • Eligible for competitive exams like UPSC, Banks, State Public Service Exams etc.
  • Pursue Higher Education.
